Patricia O’Connor decided she wanted to be a writer when she was nine-years-old following a reading binge brought on by an unrelenting bout of strep throat and an abiding love of Louisa May Alcott. The fever passed, as did her zeal for all things Alcott, but her love of the written word persists. She has been an assistant editor at Albuquerque Living Magazine, a freelance feature journalist for Art of the West, Southwest Airlines, and Seattle Weekly magazines, among others. Her creative nonfiction has appeared in Brain, Child magazine, which nominated her for a Pushcart Prize. Currently, Patricia teaches English full time at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque, NM, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
