Angie Chuang

Angie Chuang is a Washington, D.C.-based writer and educator. She is an Associate Professor of Journalism at American University’s School of Communication. Prior to joining the AU faculty, she was a staff writer at The Oregonian, The Hartford Courant, and the Los Angeles Times. During her reporting career, Angie traveled to Afghanistan, Vietnam, and the post-Katrina Gulf Coast in pursuit of stories. Her reporting in Afghanistan spun off to a interwoven memoir about the intersections of an Afghan immigrant family she met in the wake of 9/11 and her own Chinese American family from Taiwan. The Four Words for Home was published by Aquarius Press / Willow Books in March 2014 as a winner of the 2013 Willow Books Literature Awards. Her work has also appeared in Creative Nonfiction, CALYX, Washingtonian magazine, Asian American Literary Review, Consequence, as well as the anthologies Best Women’s Travel Writing, Best Travel Writing, and Tales from Nowhere.
